RHS Chelsea Flower Show Inspiration
RHS Chelsea Flower Show is now open so we thought we would highlight some of the trends and how you can create the same look! Needing some colour inspiration? Half the shortlist for plant of the year were pink-flowered plants, including the Dianthus Electric Dreams which we currently have in stock, priced at £2 per pot.
A lot of show gardens were taking on a woodland theme this year including The Mind Garden, designed by Andy Sturgeon. Its aim was to inspire everyone to connect with each other for their mental health, with the garden set among open woodland with generous swathes of colourful meadow planting at the woodland edge. It also included water gently pouring from ceramic spouts into tranquil pools. Why not create the perfect sounds of tranquillity and take a look in our water feature department where we stock lots of different styles to suit your garden. You can also shop them here online.
Although it wasn’t a gold medallist winner, we particularly love A Mediterranean Reflection designed by Tanya K Wilson and Johanna Norlin. Inspired by the Mallorcan landscape, the container garden utilised the colours and stone textures of the Mediterranean through artisan elements. You can create the same look using its planting as inspiration, such as succulents, perennials and ornamental grass which are soft and textural. We particularly love Festuca Elijah Blue and ‘Gracillimus’ grasses, which are both currently available in our Plants Department.
Lastly, we really enjoyed A Rewilding Britain Landscape. The garden reflects the amazingly rich landscape that evolves when nature’s eco-engineers, such as beavers, are able to flourish. The planting evoked a wilder countryside with swaying muti stemmed willow. Pop along to the centre to see our varieties of willow to create the same look!
And of course, we can’t forget the pending celebrations, with two new plants featured at the show to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. If you want to create a royal inspired display, we suggest using our blue and red Apta pots for your planting which are currently on special offer to really get into the full swing of things for the Bank Holiday Weekend.
